I am Finally Back on the Regular Gardening Track!

by | Jul 16, 2008

I must apologize for not stopping to sit and write….

We have had a fabulously busy past couple weeks. In preparing for our special garden visitors (Country Gardens Magazine crew), then the actual visit for two days, then my garden had to have a major cut-down after they left because it hadn’t been harvested for a week before they came. Wow! did we have fun and was it ever so beautiful!!

Our garden was gorgeous, I don’t ever remember having so many flowers in bloom in the garden–because you know that any respectable cutting garden doesn’t have any blooming flowers in it! They should all be in buckets harvested indoors! I was quite mesmerized by it all actual.I had flocks of Goldfinches in the Zinnias like never before- they thought they had found gold!

I have a whole new respect for magazines after seeing all the amazing work and talent that goes into making a magazine story and the photos!!–it all seems so simple to the naive public eye…..but believe me it isn’t.

It takes several bodies and moving lots of stuff to get the photos that make folks say “oh, isn’t that beautiful or I would love to grow that in my garden” which is the point- right? And thank goodness for digital cameras- now you can see immediate results- was that a good photo or should we take another? Back in the day of film only cameras- you had to guess and take more photos than thought necessary because you weren’t going to get the opportunity again.

Our story is scheduled for the summer issue of 2009 in Country Gardens Magazine- this is quarterly publication magazine. Sometimes it can be hard to find in stores, if you’d like to subscribe now to be sure you don’t miss out heres the link www.bhg.com/bhg/store/product.jsp?catid=cat120004&prodid=prod80004

Glad to be back on a regular schedule and looking forward to lots of fall gardening!

Happy Summer!
