Our Story
What began as a small cut-flower farm producing for local markets has grown into so much more. It all began in 1998 because Lisa Ziegler wanted to work in her garden as her career. At first she sold her cut flowers to local florists and Colonial Williamsburg. The business soon grew to include Farmer’s Markets, a garden share program and a subscription service.
During this time Lisa began giving programs to garden clubs, master gardeners and other groups. What became apparent is that folks were eager for her simplified gardening methods and she loved sharing them.

The next natural step came in 2005 to offer the tools, supplies and seeds that she used in her own garden. The retail products portion of the business was born. The Gardener’s Workshop is still a small market farm. It has grown to include an additional acre of working cutting garden, online garden shop, mail-order catalog, and a website that includes an abundance of garden and flower arranging educational information. Lisa’s simple, instructive and delightful gardening messages are reaching far beyond any expectation she ever had.
